Stay Inside The Joule Window.
Sites limit muzzle energy, not just FPS. A common AEG limit is 1.14 J, which is about 350 FPS with a 0.20 g BB, but a heavier BB reaches that energy at a lower FPS. Always check your own site's rules. A chronograph tells you where you stand before a marshal does.
- Energy = ½ · mass · velocity². Double the BB weight at the same FPS and you double the joules.
- Chrono with the BB you play with. A reading taken with 0.20 g BBs says nothing about 0.30 g.
- Re-check after every upgrade. Springs, hop-up rubbers and barrels all change the reading.
